Our remote working experts offer their advice on how to use Webex to stay in touch with your loved ones.
Hosting games night, arranging a family meal or catching up over cocktails are all great ways to catch up with family and friends. A challenge for many however, is how to continue to stay social when everyone’s in a different location, or you all just fancy a night at home.
Whilst we’re all using video conferencing technology in one way or another to keep in touch with our loved ones, it can be difficult to find a time in everyone’s diary to arrange a catch up, especially if it’s left to the last minute. So, the Natilik team has pulled together our top five ways to use Webex to make sure that you’re staying social, even from the comfort of your own home.
Organise a quiz
Here at Natilik we’re a competitive bunch, so team quizzes have become everyone’s favourite way to get together! Both inside and outside of work, they’re a fantastic way to test your general knowledge (or your friendship). Just share your Personal Room information in the group chat along with a date and a time, and make sure everyone’s got a drink in hand (soft or otherwise). You can even use the Screen Share functionality to show-off your expert PowerPoint skills, to make for a fully interactive and competitive virtual evening. Then, whoever wins that week’s session, get’s to be the quiz master the following week!
Work out with friends
For many of us, the only place where you can find the full motivation to concentrate and take accountability for your exercise routine is within a gym environment. However, why not contact a friend and arrange a virtual work out session? Be it indoors or out in the garden, just set up your phone/laptop on a steady surface where you’re in full frame and feel the burn together.
Schedule weekly digital dinner dates
Don’t miss out on Taco Tuesdays with someone special, just make it virtual instead. Now more than ever, it’s important to check in on those that you care about. Scheduling a regular time to meet for a virtual meal is a great way to make sure you’re staying in touch. Use Webex Teams to share recipes, whilst using the video calling capabilities to compare your final culinary masterpieces.
Take thirsty Thursdays online
It’s 5pm somewhere, right? Bring happy hour to your home and set up a virtual cocktail session with your friends! Or, if your home set-up doesn’t quite have the right atmosphere, download the Webex iPad app and change your background to your favourite happy hour spot to really set the ambience.
Start your own virtual book club
Who doesn’t love getting lost in a good book? Now, with the power of Cisco Webex, you can make reading social and escape the outside world with your friends or family. Set up a Webex Teams space and take it in turns each month to choose a book (and explain your choice). Then, when everyone’s turned the last page, set up a monthly call to share your thoughts on the latest read, debate over your favourite characters and stay social together.
