I can’t really believe it's been two years since our rebrand from Touchbase to Natilik. It seems like only the other day we were sat around a boardroom table, getting to grips with creative territories, the importance of colours in logos and debating just how much we should crop the letter ‘L’ in our new name.
The world is a fast-moving place. Two Years ago a different Prime Minister occupied No.10, fellow Europeans still liked us, Ransomware sounded like an edgy new clothing line, and there was very little sign of a guy from The Apprentice trying to make ‘merica great again by building walls and playing Cold War with a maniac in North Korea.
A LOT HAS HAPPENED SINCE SEPTEMBER 2015
You could argue that much of this would be to a growing businesses’ detriment. In these times, bullish decision-making often softens, global currency fluctuations begin to tighten margins and overall sentiment seems to dwindle.
But I think back to those boardroom meetings. That discovery of who, at the heart of everything we really were as a business; our new found brand, The Confident Guide. I began to realise that no matter what the outside environment would throw at us, this new identity seemed to be making us more resilient than ever, so much so that we underpinned it with a clear and honest mission:
WE LEARN. WE LEAD. WE TRANSFORM.
So what better way, two years on, to judge ourselves against those defining words, and ask ourselves honestly how we are performing.
WHAT HAVE WE LEARNT?
We’ve learnt a lot over the last 24 months. We learnt how to take a new Brand to market despite the negativity in the global economy. We learnt more about our clients and the huge value of relationships. We learnt how to differentiate ourselves with a market leading proposition. We learnt the huge importance of offering solid development of our people. We learnt about building long term sustainable growth and organic profitability, and we learnt about ensuring amazing execution in everything we did.
HOW HAVE WE LED?
We’ve led from the front for the last two years. We've carved a path with market firsts in technology. We’ve delivered over 1000 projects despite sometimes facing almost impossible timescales. We’ve deployed solutions across more than 60 countries worldwide. We’ve built profitable businesses not just in London, but in Sydney and New York. We’ve been recognised with awards and accolades from our Partners and we became a Top 10 place to Work.
WHAT HAVE WE TRANSFORMED?
We’ve transformed both our own business and helped others transform theirs. We doubled our client base and increased revenues at over 20% Year on Year. We’ve provided new careers to over 115 amazing people and built a new future leadership programme. We transformed our working environment, doubling our footprint in Devonshire Square whilst expanding premises in both New York and Sydney. We’ve worked tirelessly on developing our go to market propositions, building them in response not to market white papers and reports, but by listening to our clients. We’ve assisted in some amazing stories with them, revolutionising the way they work, improving their own customer’s experiences and defending them from a world of Cyber threats that hardly got a mention in the press two years ago.
I believe that brands and businesses are ultimately human, they grow and they develop. Above all, I believe we’ve remained true to everything we set out to do two years ago. I believe we’ve risen to the challenge of economic and political unpredictability. I believe we’ve been tested when asked, yet remained not afraid to challenge when required.
Above all, despite the plaudits and impressive statistics, I believe we’ve done this with an innate humbleness that seems entwined in our DNA, never taking ourselves too seriously and ensuring we laugh each, and every day.
Two Years in, and it still feels like we’re just warming up.
